Billy Joel never dated Elle McPherson, She was with Christy Brinkley when they both met Mr Joel whilst on holiday, Mr Joel was playing the piano in a club on a Caribbean Island having just finished his "Nylon Curtain" tour, he wrote "Uptown Girl" solely for Christy.

Christy was in the "Uptown Girl" Video from 1983.

I think Billy Joel's best song was Piano Man. It is a very haunting song with intelligent lyrics. It was so different from a lot of other top 40 pap.

I just want to point out "This is one of the song that helped Joel to be a music iron worldwide" doesn't make any sense. My suggestion: "This is the best known song that has helped Joel to be a worldwide music icon" Also mention that the Irish Boyband Westlife did a cover version of Uptown Girl in the year 2000. The video of this song of which shows the band trying to woo a famous supermodel.

This song helped make 1983 a great year for Music. I couldn't believe that Boys Zone did a copy years later,absolutely god AWFUL.
