What goes with ruby, emerald and sapphire to make up the world's most valuable gems?

It's silly though, because diamonds are not even rare... it's just that the market is controlled. And engagement rings.... were entirely a very successful Israeli marketing campaign by De Beers. (blood diamonds & price fixing included).... which is why the new diamond laundering ::cough:: "clean diamonds" are being offered through Tiffany and such. Who wants a clear white stone anyhow?

Ziela1313, brown and black diamonds are more common than than clear ones. They were originally only used for commercial applications until another successful marketing campaign in recent years by the jewelry industry started pushing "chocolate diamonds". If you want a truly rare stone get an alexandrite or red emerald if you can afford one. If not, a high quality natural emerald, ruby, or sapphire is more valuable now and will always retain its value better than a diamond... because their value doesn't depend upon false scarcity. However, I'm writing this for others because you won't be reading it. The most important thing for a stone you're wearing everyday is to get something you love and if a black diamond does that for you, that's all that matters. :-)

Player #4694363, Who even cares about diamond when you can have opals? The most beautiful ones are the so called "black" opals from Lightning Ridge, New South Wales, Australia. Malachite is lovely too.

Lolita , Theroble! With opals is They are unstable; they expand and contract in heat and cold. One cold day my central stone in ring disappeared - apparently it had contracted and fell out of the mount. The replacement stone cracked when my hand collided with a cupboard. They're eautiful, but fragile.

I was never thrilled with the peridot; the inly good thing about it is that it's not sardonx, whichever used to be the August birthstone. My dad had a one * his birthstone too) and it's kind of a reddish brown

The value of a gemstone is in your heart. No matter the price or what kind of gemstone ut is, it's how you feel about it. I personally like fire opals and amethysts ( my birthstone).

Player BARTEMAEUS 10, I adored my black opal ring I once had..it was definitely my favorite piece and precious,I got as a gift and adored it for years as well was AlWAYS complemented on it even before my diamonds,it was accented with diamonds as well but I NEVER took it off til I lost it in the ocean and noticed as soon as I got out the water..I definitely miss that piece and think 9f it often even tho I lost it 25 years ago
