Who set the White House on fire?

I didn't know this one. I didn't like history much in school. in thankful for games that teach !

President Madison did not "flee to safety ". He was with the troops planning strategy. 🙄 Interestingly a few days after the British troops set fire to the White House, there was a wrath of God type storm that uprooted trees and killed several members of the British.

Sufiyyah, sadly, schools don't "teach" anything anymore. they indoctrinate. that's one half of the problem. The other half is that even the so called "teachers" don't know these things either. Everything now is about "feelings". Our kids come out being taught 2+2= NEARLY 5!!! Not 4. BUT...they "feel" good about it.

Madison was an officer and had to be with his troops! He did not abandon his wife. Good grief.

There is far more to the this war. The British were not respecting America's rights as a sovereign nation. They were boarding American ships and pressing American sailors into the service of the British Navy.

The storm also slowed the British pursuit of the President and the American military. The storm lifted the British cannons off the ground and flung them through the air. One British soldier said it was as if the hand of God came down and stopped them from catching the Americans. Also, the American National Anthem was written during the the War of 1812 by Francis Scott Key who was an American lawyer negotiating a prisoner release of an American physician that was being held aboard a British ship. Mr. Key was not allowed to leave the ship until the battle was over and that is when he wrote The Star Spangled Banner.

All elected officials deserve two terms. One in office and one in prison!

Growing up and talking about History in school, it did not teach a lot about the real history, most important things were left out, etc

Now it's the United States setting fires and dropping bombs in other countries. Every country should just mind their own affairs.

The US (Pres. Madison) picked the fight with Great Britain over a little acreage in Canada. Needless to say we got the worst end of it but managed to pull off a victory.
