no info given about Roy Brown who was credited with shooting down and killing the red baron a.k.a. Manfred Von Richtoffen. it's is thought now that perhaps anti aircraft fire might have led to the barons demise. another note: the red baron was the brother in law of screen legend Charlie Chaplin and later on Chaplin spoofed Adolph Hitler in his film the great dictator.

He owned the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for some time I believe.

FiestyHippo2333, he sure did own it and operated it for 14years. But before that, before he volunteered to join the military 1 month after WW1 started, he raced in the Indianapolis 500 four times. I knew his name because I live here in Indianapolis and we eat and breathe the race throughout the month of May. I was in the Army and enjoy military history, but I didn't even know he was such a war hero until I visited the a very beautiful national Medal of Honor Memorial which is also located in Indianapolis. What an amazing life he had! Makes me feel like I should get off my duff and go do something.

Captain Brown claimed he shot down the Red Baron. Wrong. An Aussie named Cedric Bassett Popkin, a ground gunner did it.
