Unfortunately MGM wanted her to lose weight and thats how she got addicted to drugs, which in turn caused her early demise. RIP Judy.

MGM were the ones who got several stars hooked on various drugs. They would give them uppers for when they expected them to film, and downers to sleep for a few hours, then uppers again and so on. Continuous uppers and downers, forcing them to make movie after movie, threatening their careers if they wouldn't comply. Judy was most definitely very talented naturally, and sadly that was taken advantage of. I imagine it was hard to truly enjoy her successful career because of all the different types of pressure that she was constantly faced with, and because of drug addiction. Those things cause misery. Sadly for entertainers and many others, it's a lifelong struggle they are unable to get free of. RIP Judy ❤

Yes, she definitely had natural talent, and sadly those scumbags took advantage of that and made her career success pretty miserable and hard to actually enjoy. Constant pressure to be thin and pretty also. RIP Judy ❤

It looks like MGM has made alot of their profits off years of life stolen from the better actors & actresses/ examples the rest of our country wanted to emulate. I hope the drug war hits MGM hard and makes them pay for drug rehab for the stars that are trying to clean their lives up AND others addicted to chemicals who watched the hooked stars.

jdrhuk, I do apologize, but the original “A Star is Born” was not with Judy Garland and James Mason, it was Fredric March and Janet Gaynor in 1937, produced by David O Selznick.

Ms Garland died in 1969. Her career started very early in her life. I feel that after years of living your life for the world you can get tired, and may be come disenchanted with her life as was. Ms Garland may have died from drugs but it seems she was never allowed to be her self. Death was her escape.

mareze, it’s sad how production has to come to a halt just bcuz of the weight of a person. For instance... Tom Hanks. They stopped production of “Castaway” for a whole entire year so that Hanks can lose weight and grow out his hair and beard. There are so many healthier choices to choose from and pills is not one of them.
