In which US state is the largest National Forest located?

Chezikeets, How? They put a beating heart, on it. Down here on the Olympic Peninsula, my stompen grounds, specifically the Hoh Temperate Rain forest, it's the Spotted Owl. Also coOperation w/companies like Simpson and Weyerhouser, (so) who NOW plant 3 seedlings for every tree harvested, the forests are thriving.

How did that state keep logging companies aka big business from clear cutting (and thereby maximizing profits) the way they have elsewhere. Imagine how good it could be to have sustainable use over the long term instead of the destruction of national resources for the benefit of a few greedy people.

MotherNature, Thanks Weyerhauser for making a difference. I drive by many reforested sections regularly and see the new growth at different stages. Love it! Simpson tries.

Chezikeets, the state never got the chance to manage anything, cuz the Fed stepped in and has stymied any progress from Tongass to 1000mi north to ANWR for 25 years now.

Chezikeets, probably the difficulty of the terrain and expense of moving the logs. Just a guess.

Seems like the math of acreage is off.
