Edison took credit for anything invented in his laboratory, which included Nickoli Tesla who was a proponent of alternating current. Edison criticized the method and the man.

Now if only the rest of the world could find out about everything else Edison stole...I mean, invented.

Player #1329501, Edison took other people's inventions and improved them taking credit as the inventor. A slimy practice to say the least.

Very sadly, the practice of stealing inventions is quite common. My husband invented the back-up horn, but his employer stole it, fired him and then got the credit and big bucks. The thief's name is listed on Google, not my husband.

Not to mention I seem to remember a rumour he may have been involved in the disappearance of Louis Le Prince. I’m not impressed with the man I hope that the truth about this man are made common knowledge. I am so over people who are corrupt or have shady dealings being held in high esteem for others to aspire towards.

NIKOLA TESLA DIED BROKE AND LIVING ON CRACKERS BECAUSE PEOPLE LIKE EXISON CHEATED HIM OUT OF HIS PATENTS. HE WAS A GENIUS AND WAS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF.

Melode, for those of you who don’t know “Tesla's 300 different patents brought him fame and incredible fortune in his lifetime. At one point, the royalty payments on his Alternating Current patent were worth the inflation adjusted equivalent to hundreds of millions dollars. By most estimates, Tesla's royalties were so valuable that he easily should have become the world's first billionaire and the richest person on the planet, by a long shot. But none of that happened. Unfortunately, not only did Tesla burn through his entire personal fortune on failed projects, he also threw away away his most lucrative patent and subsequently his chance to become a billionaire. When Tesla died in 1943, he was bankrupt, alone and teetering on the verge of insanity.”

Player #1329501, all of you alls over-simplified take on Edison which comes from Hollywood is disheartening. Haywood movies create strife to create a plot device. Edison was a great man, certainly an inventor, and the founder of the first research / innovation lab that created many new technologies with willingly hired talent doing work under his direction. Tesla worked for his company for only six months. I am very fond of Tesla who was a genius whose inventions were well before their time. This does not make Edison a villain.

Player #1329501, Tesla was an extraordinary man. Highly intelligent, and extremely inventive. He should have been credited many times over. After his death, his hotel room was stripped of any documentation relating to his inventions, past, present and future. Just imagine what the world would be like today if he had lived long enough.

Mischevious Mike, I agree. I was born at the Henry Ford Hospital and since that time, I have probably been to Greenfield Village a dozen times. Definitely a place to find history.

Figured it was the light bulb, but a picture of a microscope and microscope as a choice also?? Very tricky!

Edison & Henry Ford were friends. Dearborn, Michigan was one of the first, if not the first, city to have lights installed in every business/house, etc. If ever in the area, check out Greenfield Village, lots of history there.
