CharredOstrich24365, l also have a neurological /central nervous system disease...besides loving Mr. Lewis as a talented actor, comediane, producer etc. he was a great humanitarian who wad gracious and loving of those of us who struggle to stay positive. productive humanbeings. Jerry Lewis' contribution to the MDA held the door open for those who could not open it by themselves. and in so doing it also showed the way to reach out to many othem)lll)

knew this from the annual telethons he did for 24 hours on TV for decades. he was a wonderful human being to his audience and the world. I saw him perform in person in theatre in the round and at times he was so close I could have touched him. After the show I had the singular privilege of talking to him. In a word WOW!!

CharredOstrich24365, no, he didn't have a child with MD. But, he considered EVERY INDIVIDUAL who suffered from MD to be his child, no matter what age they were. I miss the man to this very day. I wish he was still doing the annual MDA Telethon.

I worked as a member of the television crew during the Jerry Lewis Labor Day MDA telethons for several years. And the shows were live - All Day and All Night Long! You don’t see that much anymore. Although the crew was union, many of us donated our time to the event instead of getting paid. I met an incredible number of celebrities and up-and-coming celebrities during those telethons, I still have pictures of me with Jerry Lewis. Some of my fondest memories of my lifetime career working in television are from the telethons. RIP mr. Lewis, they don’t make them like you anymore!
Angie
I did the muscular dystrophy challenge through work once where they came and picked me up and put me in jail to call for donations lol
