love in upstate sc. just drove 2 hrs cpl weekends ago to take the kids to state museum. love my state and it's history. love my country and it's history also

rocketmanma, Lived in NC for 6 years and spent summer hold at Myrtle Beach. First time arrived after dark. Dad's map showed the land was National Park, so drove around looking for sites to camp, toilets, something. Nothing. So we got out the heavy tarp tent and steel poles and put up our tent in the dark between the dirt road and the ocean. Once everything was shop shape, we climbed in (all six of us) and went to sleep. At 4AM, a jet took off just over our tent and broke the sound barrier over the ocean. Now that is a wake up call! Our tent was right at the end of the runway.. We camped there and had fun. Next year we left earlier and went to the campgrounds...

Columbia is probably OK, but I swore I would never enter the city again because I went to basic training at Fort Jackson. It was literal Marching through all that sand.

My last two years of high school were in Anderson, SC where the movie "Radio" was filmed. Radio was the mascot for TL Hannah but I went to Westside High. Clemson University is about 25 miles away. I loved the Hartwell lake. It was huge and man made. You can find old highways that run right down into the water.
