Who wrote "A Farewell to Arms"?
Correct answer: Ernest Hemingway
SparkyChaz2018
Supposedly, the plot of the novel, was based on Hemingway's own experience in WWI. Hemingway tried to enlist in the U.S. Army. but failed the physical. He also failed the physical in Italy, but was accepted as a driver for ambulances. Hemingway found himself driving into the heat of war battles and was injured. After 1 of his more serious wounds, he met a nurse and they fell in love. However. Hemingway had to return to the war. He could never find her after the war. Most of Hemingway's novels and short stories are based on either his own life or on the lives of his friends, which cost him many friendships. He rarely tried to even disguise, who the real life people were so he often left his "friends" feeling betrayed and humiliated.
