NewLiver031716
Smidget0223, same with me. lots of people who don't understand it, think all that first. but WE know better.
Be an organ donor, a blessing even after your gone.

I am currently recovering from an auto immune response from being on long term, low dose, antibiotics which nearly wiped my liver out, the doctors told my husband that if I hadn’t been admitted for two more days I would have died, I am so thankful for the doctors and nurses that looked after me during my 4 month stay in hospital. I have every respect for all their hard work. God bless the NHS

Snootybubbles48
NewLiver031716, my stepson was a donor. Saves two people with his liver alone.

PrincessThompson815, all that is true, on 3-17-16, I did receive a new liver. I had auto immune hep. of the liver for 15 1/2 years. I went through infections, mrsa, fluid retention, no regulation of body temp. and yes finally cancer which, in my case was a blessing. I received it 3 months later. and since then it has been the most perfect gift I have ever received. Your mom was a hero who guided the way for for for people like me. bless her.

PrincessThompson815
Hep C is just as bad as HIV. My Mom died from Hep C from a blood transfusion she had as a baby in 1957 before they tested blood. It is a blood disease. You die from liver failure unless you are fortunate enough to get a new one.

Smidget0223
My grams died of it and she hasn't ever had alcohol or drugs

PrincessThompson815,
I don't know what they tell you in the USA, but hepC is both treatable and is non life threatening in Australia.

GatorMama2014, There's a treatment called Harvoni which is very effective , I know because in a matter of 1 month I became undetectable , now back in 1998 I did the interferon injections and that was Really Bad ( side effects ) insomnia , mood swings , and really bad chills for about 45 min after the dose , Best treatment is Harvoni and the company will work with you if you can't afford to medication

My uncle going to have operation bcoz of cirrhosis soon and my dad will give him part of his liver just to keep his brother alive although doctors don’t give any guarantees after operation they will be okay

NewLiver031716, you’re an organ donor?! It’s because of amazing ppl like you that I’m alive today! I had a liver transplant last year ( when I was 18) and a kidney transplant six months ago both from live donors. My donors are the most incredible people in the world! It’s amazing how someone would go under the knife to save a life. May god bless you and give you strength and health for the rest of your life! 😘

Kathy
Snootybubbles48,
I’m sorry for your loss, but he is still living on in the people he has helped. At least that is how I think of it. My husband had a terrible head injury when he was in his late twenties and the doctors didn’t think he would make and he was a donor. Knowing that was the only thing keeping me together, thinking he would live on in someone else.
