Endocarditis affects which human organ?
Correct answer: Heart
littlemissnerd
Player #168901109, Umm an endocrinologist is a doctor that works with hormones or chemicals in the human body. A cardiologist is a doctor that works with the cardiac system. There's quite a big difference between the two.

an inflammation of the lining around the heart is known as pericarditis, I should know I was in the hospital earlier this year with it.

My husband had this in his 30s. It was compound by an infection from the hospital and he nearly died. Took over a year to recover and he is healthy now thank God at 77.

Well, that’s easy, ‘cause even if you don’t know for certain, there is the “cardi” part.

I love reading these comments! The "know it all" who misread the name of the disease...the responses. Great fun.

endocarditis can actually occur from using IV drugs and the impurities that come along with it. the filtering process not being done correctly people not taking a correct steps. I've seen many cases in my practice a very young adults with bacteria buildup in valves. we actually replace valves with swine valves it's not a permanent fix but it does save lives and along with endocarditis comes a lifelong hypertension possibly have to wear a heart monitor the rest of your life. all in all it's very sad and very very scary

Alfie, so sorry to hear that. I had an aunt who had rheumatic fever as a child which damaged her valves. She first had a pig valve, then an artificial one which had a ball that opened and closed the in the valve. Those valves gave her a much longer life. Medicine has come a long way since then. I hope everything goes well.

The prefix "endo-" comes from the Greek word endon, which means "within, inner, absorbing, or containing"
The prefix cardi- means "heart" and is often used in medical and scientific terms.
The suffix "-itis" is used in medical terms to mean "inflammation of" or "disease"
