Many famous bands are from Canada: Arcade Fire, Blue Rodeo, Rush, Steppenwolf, The Band, Crash Test Dummies, Sloan, Skinny Puppy, Feist, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Crazyhorse, The Guess Who, The Jeff Healey Band, Red Rider, Loverboy, Men Without Hats, Nickelback, The Sheepdogs--those are a few I can think of off the top of my head that are both current and older, and I'm not even Canadian.
