Next time you're watching a bike race pay attention to the lead rider. You will occasionally see him or her flipping their elbow out, that's a signal to the rider on their wheel to take the lead and do some of the work. Depending on the strategy of the rider, sometimes the person drafting refuses to take point, and when that happens it can get pretty heated.
