On which U.S. TV cop show would viewers hear the phrase, "Book 'Em, Danno!"?
Correct answer: Hawaii Five-O
Malignancy
The show is called Hawaii 5-0 because Hawaii (Hawai'i actually) is the fiftieth state.
MALICE
love the original

Player #185561, this was one of my dads favorite shows
Nutshell
Malignancy, I just assumed it was because 5-0h means "police" on the CB radio, in police code, and in street slang.
(It's what the lookouts always yelled to the street drug dealers & prostitutes when they saw a cop coming, and you'd hear it echo down the streets.)
Cowofneal
I used to watch the show with my grandma Camen! I actually had a crush on Danny.
KILLean17
Funny aside: (Keep in mind age 50 now ... so I was a little kid for the original show.)
Steve McGarret
(Jack Lord) was ' OLD '
Now, with the new
re-make, Steve looks like a kid !
How'd THAT happen ?
😁 😂 🤣
Player #10489007
Malignancy, 5-0 is actually code for the police, so it's not about being the 50th state, but rather "Hawaii police."
Hawaiian

FYI...
For those wondering which came 1st, Hawaii Five-O or the slang term '5-0' for police/cops, it was the TV show. It's actually because of this show that '5-0' is now commonly used to mean 'police/cops'.
Shalindria
Malignancy is right. The term 5-0 was adopted because of the show.
“The program was shot on location in Honolulu and throughout the island of Oahu–other islands in the state were also used for various scenes. The name of the show is derived from Hawaii being the 50th state of the United States.”

KILLean17, the new McGarret is his son
Autumnrose
Re-watching the original recently, it was interesting how they used their brains and worked out solutions to figure out who did something or how to catch the crooks. Also cool to see "locals" regularly along with Hollywood big names early in their careers.
Autumnrose
KILLean17, I just realized recently that Jack Lord was the same age as my father although he always looked younger than my dad.
