golf is the most stressful relaxing game ever invented.

air molecules hate to move in straight lines or get pushed aside.
dimples counter both problems in relation to a sphere(ball).
mythbusters did a great bit on this & applied it to a car.

I originally scoffed at the idea that the dimplesade the ball more aerodynamic. Looking into why it is more aerodynamic created my love of physics.

I have dimples, but I hope nobody hits me with a golf club... lol
Milo
Instead of better look, which can be argued, could be all of the other answers. For sure it has a better grip and also better damage resistance.
Mishu
Why don't planes and rockets have dimple then?
Rita
I didn't know that!
Michael
Ghost 16, I see what you did there lolxxx

I thought it was just a golf ball 🤣
Milo
Improve aerodynamics was the goal, but I think all other answers are acceptable, it's for sure it has a better grip, probably better mechanical resistance, and also better look.
Tombot
Yes and I have always wondered why it is not used in aeroplanes, boats and other sports. ??

For those who think golf is easy....think again...it takes focus and remembering so many things, like ..eyes on the ball, head down, swing through, and as my George used to say..hit the little ball, not the big one!!

A question please, does aerodynamics refer to the rotating of the ball in the air? the lightness or heaviness of the ball in the air?
