HaugWilde, I totally agree...why are we so totally fixed on war, killing each other, radical groups with weird ideas ie ISIS, Terriorism, when we all should be appreciating each other's culture for their art and architectural beauty. Life is to short to waste it on hate. after all we are the only known planet at the moment to support human type life. I visited some year ago and it was well worth the trip. Most people would probably say that the Mona Lisa took their breath away but my favorite was absolutely the Venus de Milo. She was bewitching. She had a pull about her that kept me in her presence for over half an hour.

Solabraicity, For me personally, turn your back on the Louvre, straight ahead take a stroll through the Tuileries and just before you reach place de la concorde on your left: the Orangeries. Downstairs is Claude Monet's gift to France at the end of WW1. I have sat there for hours several times 😊
