one year my husband and I went up in the mountains to see a meteor shower after dark. Laid the blanket out and watched the black sky. We started itching like crazy. Pilled up the blanket and found an ants' nest underneath the blanket. So much for enjoying a meteor shower.

There are meteor showers every year. Google the dates and have an experience. A good way to view is on your back (blanket and pillow). Just keep your eyes open. The Leonides, Persides and others.
