Yep, Blackbeard was born in my city according to known records. It's doubtful he ever said A-ar! That's all thanks to Robert Newton in Treasure Island, who placed his character firmly in the West of England. Yet in all pirate movies since they say A-ar! C'mon Hollywood! Henry Morgan was Welsh and William Bonnie, Scottish. Bet they never said A-ar!
