I have seen them wild in the Serengeti.. words cannot describe how terrifying they are.. much more so than lions.. the eyes of a hyena show nothing but rage and destruction..

Turns out some rich, eccentric man had brought a hyena from Africa and set it loose in the countryside of France(?). A hyena's bite can break bones.

interestingly they communicate with barks, growls,and short howl.,much like wolves and dog but are not even remotely related to dogs

they are fascinating...and very complex animals that I admire in many ways...but utterly terrifying. Would not want one eyeing me off for dinner...Nooo thank you Nelly. Happy that they are in Africa and I am not. That's no insult to Africa...I am chomping at the bit to visit many places there...but just as long as there is no risk of a chomping on me.😯😊

I saw them up close at the Singapore Zoo. They are huge and scary, despite movies showing them as weak scavengers!
