TeepacAttack, in Canada we know wapiti as the same as elk. Infact interestingly enough Wapiti is french for elk and a red deer is very similar but have thicker antlers and are known as red stags. we don't have red stags here. moose are the largest of the deer family and are actually regarded as the deadliest animal in Canada.

In English English elk is the same as moose. In US English an elk is a different species, hence elk is both the same or a different species, depending on whether you speak English English or US English.
