The drachma was the currency of which country?
Correct answer: Greece
Player Scandali
I grew up with the drachma and miss it. It's too bad Greece was conned into the euro by domestic and foreign corrupt politicians who only care(d) about lining their own pockets at the expense of the population

Thanks Assassin's Creed. Best history teacher ever.

Percy Jackson anyone?
Montana Lady
The writing in the picture is sideways and says "ATHE", for Athena, the goddess of wisdom, whose symbol is the owl. She was also the goddess of Athens (each city had its own God or goddess) and how it got its name, so I assume that's where this coin was from.
It is also why we associate owls with wisdom today.

I only knew this from my dad, Greece is gorgeous btw, I went there and the water is so clear!

I was covering some shifts at a friend's dive bar in an old mining town in Montana a few years ago while he was in the hospital and decided to clean the place up for him. The chairs in the card room were a gold mine!
Along with an old drachma, an Italian lira, silver quarters, two silver dollar, and three Indian head pennies, and an assortment of regular change... I also recovered tokens for two of the old brothels! LOL
