When did Teddy Roosevelt say, “...it takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose”?
Correct answer: Giving a speech after being shot

Amazing! Sickly as a child, withstanding being shot in the chest. So two of Mount Rushmore were definitely shot, Washington must have been shot at during Revolutionary War, only Jefferson managed to avoid being fired upon.
Picaron Of Hillfar
like when that balloon popped and Reagan said "missed me"

So many interesting things have happened in our history that we don't know about unless we read a lot of books written by a multitude of people. No way to teach it all in school. This is why this game is so fantastic. I learn so much every day.

Picaron Of Hillfar,
That wasn't funny. WH Press Secretary Jim Brady was shot in the head during the attempt on Regan and never regained full use of his limbs.
Tony
Wow! This is a great telling of an event which could have ended in tragedy. Obviously, to me anyway, the prepared speech slowing the bullet is what saved his life. A spirit (remember, God is spirit) whispered to put the speech within his shirt or buttoned jacket knowing the spirit of the world be assassin's intent. It could be phrased as: God sent an angel to save his life.
I'm applauding the courage of the man to speak for an hour.
GIG
Seems God made sure he would continue on to save the Lord's good earth through enacting lands to be preserved for national parks and other ventures outside of that.

WaldoLydeker, Washington had 2 horses shot out from under him and 4 bullet holes in his coat in his first engagement in what became the French & Indian War. General Braddock, the leader of the English forces, was killed in the ambush.

Obi Wan , the story you mentioned was about Calvin Coolidge not Teddy Roosevelt.
Obi Wan
A man of a few words. He was known as the quiet President. One time at a gathering in the White House, a woman told him she made a bet that she can get him speak 3 words to her. He calmly said: "You lose".

I live in Milwaukee and the place he did his speech used to be a city hall then turned into a community clinic and now in 2020 a homeless shelter for mentally disabled individuals...how ironic

I remember learning about him. When foreign diplomats would come to visit, the original Rough Rider would take them on miles-long hikes through swamp land and all kinds of terrain. What a goofy, unique and awesome president!
