It used to be Yugoslavia then 2003 it became Serbia & Montenegro but in 2006 they split into two separate countries.

People with eastern European ancestry have a challenge tracing their family history because over the years, so many areas belonged to this or that country, the name of the country changed, records were lost during many wars, etc. it's a challenge, to be sure!

The Republic of Kosovo is partially recognized by the UN. 97 of 193 countries recognize it as independent.
Serbia still claims it as their own.
I would like to believe that it is it's own country, but that's just me.
