Peter Montgomery, How different our experiences! I grew up listening to this lovely opera every Christmas. My father played one of the Wise Men [Kasper] in a community production. When VHS became a form of media, we bought a recording of the live television production. Our whole family knew it backwards and forwards. My sister played Amahl's Mother about 20 years ago. I own a piano and vocal score of Amahl. And we also love another work by Mennotti called, "The Unicorn, the Gorgon, and the Manticore." Just goes to show the variety of experiences in the world!

Peter Montgomery, This is music from my childhood. My Dad loved this and we played our record of it every Christmas, but I never knew it was written for television. Even though I haven't heard it for decades, I still have the music from it, and some of the words in my head.
