MuscularDemigod69239, Historically the Sioux lived nowhere near Yellowstone National Park (YNP) their territory was farther east in the Dakotas and Minnesota. YNP is in western Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho, so a few hundred miles which is a long walk (there were no horses until the 1500s). My ancestors, the Blackfeet's territory stretched from the top of the park and north. The Crow to the east and the Shoshone to the west and south. Other tribes did come through though to trade and use certain park features like the hot springs.

IndigoChancellor5289, so if you don't believe in property rights and ownership... whose land are you living on??? You are profiting, while many natives today have no indoor plumbing, water, & electricity. PLUS, there are over 3000 missing Native girls & women in the USA and Canada right now.... Where is the news about that?!?! Can you even imagine the outrage if they were white???

Unlike Mt St Helens, if Yellowstone blows its top, life will cease to exist on earth because sunlight won't penetrate earth's surface for a mighty long time.

As a Montanan, I feel snubbed by this post. But I guess, to be fair, Wyoming does have 96 percent of the park.

DAdio, I live in WA st and the Native tribes here are very well off with their casino's, leasing land and retail and priority fishing. Like you said they got the last laugh.

Hey! Ulysses S. Grant did something right! The first ever National Park in the world! Take that, Teddy Roosevelt, who would be anybody's guess as being credited for it. Outside of that, great general, lousy President.
