1italian, Invertebrates are animals too. Basically, anything that is alive and is not a plant, fungus, bacteria, or virus is an animal. Or do you think an octopus is not an animal because it lacks a backbone? It's still an animal, it is just not a mammal.

CYBERSson, It is the larval form of the monarch butterfly. It eats the leaves of swan plants, but will also eat pumpkin rather than starve to death. I was fascinated as I watched the huge fat larva make its cocoon and scrunch itself inside. It didn't seem possible. It's amazing that an undulating worm can emerge with long legs and lovely wings & fly away!

So why did the heavy equipment company name itself "Caterpillar?" Is it because of how the wheels inside the tracks moved on uneven ground, which was somehow similar to how a caterpillar moved?
