When used to describe a camera, what does SLR stand for?

Diver Dan, you gotta remember that there are a whole lot of people playing this game who cannot imagine a time when all this digital everything didn't exist, and we actually survived.

I received my first camera at age 10, a German Agfa. I had to set EVERYTHING, including aperture (lens opening), exposure, distance of object, and object speed. When digital cameras first came out, I did not believe they were superior to manual cameras. I still use a standard camera, now a Canon, but it does do a couple of things automatically. My older (2013) phone takes great photos with or without adjustments, but I still like my Canon for standard shots. Creative Dinosaur 1945

I have a Pentax SLR that I got from a Photography course in 1995. I haven't used it for years but it use to take fairly good pictures and I loved experimenting with it.

the camera in the picture is a rangefinder or Mirrorless camera. SLR generally refers to a film camera, DSLR to a digital version.
