Who was elected the Prime Minister of Great Britain in 1940?
Correct answer: Winston Churchill

beach1961, Voters vote for an MP for their area, there are 650 in the UK. The Party with the most MPs forms the government, and the leader of that Party (elected either by its MPs or its Party Members depending on the Party) then becomes Prime Minister, assuming they have retained their own seat (area or constituency) in the election.

I forgot to say in previous reply that the political party is elected, then it is their leader that it is invited by the Monarch to form a government, of which they then become Prime Minister.

he was not elected. Chamberlain stood down from pressure and Churchill took over
Player #22919559
the only time Churchill was elected as prime minister was in 1951.
In 1940 he replaced the incumbent Neville Chamberlain after he resigned who replaced Stanley Baldwin (after another resignation) who was elected in 1935.
