johnwintergreen, - Well, my grandparents had a farm out in the country of southwest Missouri area & the well water always tasted like sulphur. So, some Kool Aid to mask the flavor would make it seem like "Nectar". Just a little memory from when I was a child.

Also, Ambrosia Salad-a sweet & cold fruit side dish or dessert made with pineapple, Mandarin oranges, shredded coconut, mini pastel colored marshmallows, Marichino cherries, nuts or whatever and Kraft Cool Whip whipped topping (modern times) and/or whipped cream, yogurt or sour cream etc. (old days) Uusually served at special occasions-Christmas or Thanksgiving in the USA. Called Ambrosia-like the food of the Gods, it began appearing in cookbooks in the 1800s in the Southern States. Because tropical & citrus fruits weren't widely available either fresh or canned, the ingredients were hard to come by and quite expensive, until the trans-continental railroad could bring fruit from California and Florida into the Interior & Northern States. Now it's readily available to buy at grocery store Deli counters everywhere!
