Big Blue Narwhal, build and collect those feelings of feeling safe and protected. Add to them. Each little thing that you add to it may eventually let the pain become part of the past rather than the present. Peace be with you.

This should be required reading for everybody. It is all there in that book: friendship, love, self-sacrifice, pride, wonder, grief, happiness, fear, hope, greed and a few more morals I can't remember (I need to reread it!); plus the wonderful characters and descriptions of the farm. This is not just a children's book; if I taught High School, I would require my students to read it too!
