I have 2 adult children with severe disabilities and Helen Keller’s story always makes me cry. How absolutely beautiful that 1 person could make such a difference to her life, giving her the ability to help others too. People like my children are the 1st to suffer in any government cutbacks. I have campaigned in the past and won on a few small levels, but I am getting too old to fight. I feel there are not enough people who feel strongly enough to protest against the government and make a real difference for these truly vulnerable people. What a shame there are not more people like Helen’s teacher. It is a hard battle and we need more soldiers.

wish that Anne Sullivan also be highly recognized, since she was the one saw and worked hard to emerge Helen Keller’s potential. What she did is highly commendable. So teachers have a deep impact on the life of their students.😁

I seen "The Miracle Worker" starring Patty Duke. Helen Keller really put up a fight with Annie Sullivan! That slapping scene was something else.

SamTBug, How strong you are to not only care for your children but to campaign (& win) as well! You are never too old to share your story and perhaps you could write letters and petition for changes from home? I & everyone I know would gladly sign any petition or the like to help our most vulnerable! After all, it is they who truly need help. I wish you happiness and success.😊

SamTBug, I agree completely. But it's not just people with disabilities. Most senior citizens don't have enough resources either. The lucky ones get help from their children.

Lunar, you’re correct, teachers need to be paid more money, cause teachers teach how to read, math, science etc, to presidents, lawyers, doctors, nurses and more.

I remember learning about both of these remarkable women: Ms. Keller and Ms. Sullivan. Ms. Keller persevered. Really extraordinary work and persistence on the part of Ms. Sullivan. Honorable and Integral inclusion of the teaching profession. Truly to be commended.
