Isn't that the crash where they died from carbon monoxide or some such thing, and the plane flew for a time with no one manning it until it crashed?

I was an air traffic controller in Houston and I remember watching his pilotless depressurized jet climb quietly through our airspace. Very creepy knowing all on board are dead and the plane will run out of gas and eventually crash. One of those days a controller never forgets. So helpless and hopelessly sad.

303RPB, That's good to know. I went to church with one of his agent's (Van) mother. Always hard for a parent to lose one's child, no matter the age.

HazelTwigg, actually loss of cabin pressure caused asphyxiation to all on board shortly after takeoff... it was escorted by military jets until it ran out of fuel & crashed.

Another memory of Payne: he was a big fan of the NFL. He had shirts and color coordinated knickers for every team, which he wore when he played a tournament in an NFL city.

HazelTwigg, No, a window cracked open and the cabin depressurized. They all passed out and the plane flew itself until it crashed.

Trucker91203, I remember watching the live TV news feed. I'm also from SD, so felt it more personally. As if it was my relatives...or something..IDK But it's the gentle & loving arms of the people in SD that I would want to be cradled in if my body were to fall from the sky. God bless SD

After an internet search, I've found that Stewart and 4 others died of hypoxia, lack of oxygen. There are several memorials, including one in his home state of Missouri. There is less information about where he is buried. Probably in Springfield. In addition, I believe he chose the colors of his clothing by the professional sports team in the area of the tournament. My level is 102.
