Correct answer: Ian Fleming
Heartland Old Guy
Wow. The first name I eliminated. Never even would have associated Fleming with children's stories. Great question. Learned something surprising today. Love this game.

Heartland Old Guy, great game isn't it. I did exactly the same.. confusing the visuals of the chitty movie with gripping spy novels are just so far apart.. I discounted them immediately. greetings from Scotland.

Who remembers the day when you had to wait for the one time in the year where this movie would be on TV? Now you can watch it anytime you want and then never watch it...

Just like sir Arthur Conan Doyle who also wrote books on fairies, people don't always realise the versatility of writers with imagination

Wanna win a bar bet? Sean Connery was not the first to play James Bond. It was that charismatic actor (lol) Barry Nelson. Look it up.

See the end of the book for a delightful fudge recipe.

So, if it was written for his son, Caspar, and Fleming penned it after the late 40's - how old was Caspar?
How old was Fleming when he started his family? It seems that any son of his would be grown up by that time.

Fun comments. The license plate of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was GEN 11 (meaning Genie because the car was magical)

The only song I fast forward is 'What a Lonely Man'. It just didn't fit in with the rest of the tunes and ate up too much time. Never got why the King disliked his Queenie so. Given his frumpiness, he could've done worse.

I got the toy car for my birthday as a child

Great childhood movie. Benny Hill is in it too, he was the toy maker. The villain was downright scary and really creepy.

Anyone who didn't know that Ian Fleming wrote the story Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, should be a read the credits on the film and it shows that he not only wrote the story he also wrote the screen play for the film. The article got it wrong on how Caractacus Potts got the money so he could buy the car, it wasn't from selling his sweets too Lord Scrumptious. It was however from performing with the Morris Dances, while trying too hide from Arthur Mulhard's character who Caractacus had given a very very bad hair cut to with his Automatic hair cutting machine. Caractacus does however gets money from the selling of his sweets to Lord Scrumptious who in turns renames them as Woof Sweets which gives Caractacus the financial backing he felt he needed in order to marry Truly Scrumptious. I know this due to the amount of times my 2 year Grandson has wanted to watch the this movie and he especially likes the part of the film were Caractacus is performing with the Morris Dances because he also likes the to dance with along with it.
Frankenstein

There are many tie ins with the bond series. Including Desmond Llewellyn as Coggins. Produced by Broccoli and Saltzman and the license plate of the car is Cub 1.
