ViciousBeagle2466, I remember as a child going to this park and riding in a glass bottom boat and the bottom of the swamp area in that particular area was silver color and all the fish were beautiful. A long time ago... so much has changed since then, but I still have the memory:-)

i grew up hunting and fishing in the Everglades from 1960 thru 1975. it was an amazing site. not anymore. We camped 12 feet above ground on a plywood platform in sleeping bags while we built the camp. you couldn't sleep due to the sound of mosquitoes. you could hear panthers at night. we got to the camp by swampbuggy for 1.5 hours and air boat for over an hour. depending on the season you used one first then the other. I'm grateful for these memories

Player #559997, ya when one of the hurricanes came thru (not sure which one) destroyed the tin sheds people selling them used to store them in, and now some say up to 40% ofthe reptile population is non indigenous to Florida

I did an air boat ride there and saw some alligators in the water, and they came up to boat, but they didn't hurt anyone it was a very fun ride. I did it in August of 2006.

Our son and daughter in law were National Park Rangers in the Everglades. I’ll never forget walking the boardwalk under a full moon while hearing the alligators splashing about beneath us.

I did not realize just how much this park protects! I knew it had a ton of different species, but I just didn't realize how vital it was to so many.

I actually lived there in the 70's. Went to school in Everglades City, which is still a real cute little fishing town. It's unlike any other place around. It's a wondetful place to experience, especially if you love and respect nature!

tapdancintiger, there are no known troop of monkeys in North America except in Florida and those are there because when they stopped filming Tarzan they left the monkeys behind. As far as I know the monkeys are still there.

MALICE, that is part of it yes. But do to hurricane damage some wildlife parks also lost invasive species. It's very sad the Everglades never had crocodiles and do now. native animals being killed
