A few decades ago, they painted the whole bridge a very pretty sky blue. When you drove across it on a clear, sunny day, it blended with the horizon and you had the illusion you were driving in the sky! I loved it, but maybe it disconcerted or disoriented people, because some time later they repainted it a darker color.
