What scientific name does washing soda have?

I add a bit of this to laundry detergent to give it "super power", esp whites & any greasy stains. It's a wonderful tool that most modern folks have forgotten about. It's best application is for cleaning a dirty BBQ grill. Try it!

I've never heard of washing soda before. I thought the were talking about baking soda which is sodium bicarbonate

Put a tiny pinch into red sauce to take away some acidity

I used it to soak my vegetables

and it would be a darn sight more effective than modern dish washing liquids. as was my grandmother's wire cage on a handle. put all your little bits of soap in and agitate. no wasted soap and better grease cutting power
