I almost ran out of time to answer I was so enthralled with that beautiful horse🐎 in the picture.
Montana Lady
Player Mz. Peggy, you shouldn't have doubted Flygirl, she's absolutely right. In Western Pleasure competitions the gaits are: walk, jog, lope, extended canter and/or hand gallop (depending upon breed)...

Willow,
Cozzy 25,
I just checked the picture after reading your input, & you’re right! The horse is beautiful.
WaldoLydeker
In 1872, Eadweard Muybridge proved to Leland Stanford that all four feet eventually leave the ground when trotting, that is, the horse is "flying" by mounting 24 cameras.

Sully Girl

Montana Lady, Funny I used to work with pacers and loved the exercise sessions - so smooth you could read a magazine while going round the track :)
Player BARTEMAEUS 10
321jimk, Trot on.
321jimk
I say ‘jog on’.
Player Suze Eckert
I rode hunters/jumpers all my life competitively - English riding and never heard the word "jog" in reference to English riding. I think the question is misleading because it says that trot is interchangeable with jog, yet jog is the answer.
Gem-kat1
flygirl1956, I was thinking that when I read the question. I've been to a lot of horse shows locally, and my daughter showed as a youngster. Always, walk jog, canter.
SQinfoNUTS
Lenny the Clam, I think that odd variety of horse is spreading to these parts. The walkman induced deafness may eliminate them.
Montana Lady
Gordon, not many breeds pace... it's the gait used in sulky racing. It's bouncier than a trot, so it makes for a very bumpy ride.
Gordon
what happened to pace
flygirl1956
jog is the western term for trot
