I thank Dr Banting and his colleagues every day of my life for their work in discovering insulin. I was diagnosed with Type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes on Christmas Day 1974 at the age of 30, and have now lived with it for 50 years. If I had been diagnosed before 1922 I would have been dead within a few weeks.
