myquest, Helios was a titan and assisted the sun god Apollo with driving the sun chariot accross the sky. when Apollo's son phaeton was killed trying to drive the chariot, Apollo lost the will to drive the sun again and passed the duty to Helios.

Helios was a Titan not a god and was eventually replaced by Apollo.

Apollo drive the chairiot across the sky, Apollo is Sun. Helios is named after an element that is part of the atmosphere. Helios is Sky.
