the modulation technique also named the frequency band. .. it's not wrong to use frequency modulation on the AM band, or amplitude on the FM band , it just isn't done .. mainly because AM frequency carries further and AM radios can pickup a very weak signal. .. so AM for state wide service, FM for one city ... FM modulation was just the simple way to get noise immunity ...
