In which year did Galileo Galilei demonstrate his first telescope to Venetian lawmakers?

Although popularly credited with "inventing" the telescope, he refined it. Like Steve Jobs. He didn't invent as much as refined existing products.

thezodiak667, no, it was Giordano Brunowho got burned. Galileo was prosecuted for believing in heliocentrism and to avoid Bruno's fate, he renounced everything.

So glad he’s remembered posthumously .. too bad & too sad he died the way he did as many have done for going against what is held up as popular belief of the day.

The 4 moons he discovered around Jupiter are now called the Gallilean (sp?) satellites. Easy to see even in small telescopes.
