What is the name of Popeye's father in the "Popeye" comic strip and animated cartoon's?

i just remember Popeye referring to his father as Pappy.

I DO remember, just barely, Popeye 's old man. But I sure recall that bizarre Goon Island and the female goons( Homer's sirens) who tried so desperately to seduce Popeye. I was probably 4 or 5 years old.

That was kinda cool how the cartoon would stop and the animator, appeared deus ex machina, reminiscent of the Fleischers' "Out of the Inkwell" shorts
