Player #158499, I'm soooooo very sorry, I know how much that hurts. I lost my Afghan Hound, Portia at 18 a year ago. She was like a child to me and my grief over her loss is still so very strong.... cherish the happy memories you shared. It helps me to save the collars of my special pets and put them in a shadow box below a treasured photo of a particularly happy time we shared together. Hugs

I miss all the dogs I’ve loved and lost so much, But it’s worth the heartache - Especially if the dog is from a rehoming centre, as they are already in of need an owner . I love dogs 🐶 Id have ahuge pack if I could 🐕🦮🐩🐕‍🦺🐾

the dog was barely 7 years old. Hardly old enough to show signs of old age. Great Danes have heart problems. I highly doubt this dog died of old age.

SneakyMole92698, It's odd that big dogs tend to have shorter lives than small dogs. With most animals it's the other way round. A friend had a Yorkshire Terrier live to be 22. The people across the road from me look after retired greyhounds. They live for less than 10 years. Great Danes have the shortest life expectancy of all.

MrNobody, the larger the dog, the shorter its life span (as a general rule)

Canis Lupus, I had one back in the 1970's, he weighed over 11 stone. Irish Wolfhounds are another "giant" breed but sadly, they and all the really huge dog breeds are known as "heartbreak" dogs, because they don't live to a great age (usually) :(
