On June 8, 1967 Israel intentionally attacked and tried to sink the United States intelligence ship the USS Liberty, in international waters, murdering and wounding many brave Americans in what many believe was an attempt to get us involved in the conflict. It's all declassified now, you can read the full account (both firsthand & official) and there are YouTube videos of interviews with the survivors.
