WaldoLydeker, didn't they kill him .I never read the book but as a child I remember my brother telling me about it.that was enough for me I never wanted to read it

From what i've read online, they were on that island for approx 2 months, not really that long when comparing to movie "Cast Away". So the way some of those kids were behaving could possibly be from their upbringing, raised with a different way of thinking towards others, could have worked together to survive instead of against, very counterproductive

A great book, it showed how thin our veneer of civilization can be. Should be required reading in all high schools.

Same theme as Animal Farm, or even the real book of Peter Pan, not the Disney version, even Children of the Corn, even the Star Trek episode "Is it a Good Thing Muri?" mankind in general needs rules to live by, with consequences. it doesn't have to be heavy fisted, just guidelines, or civilization could get chaotic. So many movies and show depict that, The Purge, the Walking Dead, I could go on and on...
