Who wrote the second national anthem of New Zealand, 'God Defend New Zealand'?
Correct answer: Thomas Bracken

In 1999, Hinewehi Mohi sparked huge controversy when she sang the national anthem only in Māori at a Rugby World Cup match in Twickenham. Although the words to this in English are still pretty cool, it sounds beautiful in te reo and it's now quite common for the first verse to be sung in Maori.

Im a born & bred Kiwi ; but actually find our anthem outdated - coupled with the fact God/Church-going a dying phase in NZ.
I'd like to see an anthem based on "6 months in a leaky boat"
Aotearoa, shining like a pearl
Bottom of the world ...
