Very proud and old regiment that would have put the fear of God into any enemy! They look tremendous and the Bearskin hats just enhance the size of the men who wear them. Luckily the Guards have kept their identity in the Army, I always felt for the regiments that were made to amalgamate as years of history were behind a lot of them, they started off as numbers but because of the areas they were founded in became known for the county or a particular place, anyone who has served their country will always have my respect.

Royal Scots is the oldest serving regiment in the British Army, also, Coldstream is on the border and has both Scotsmen and Englishmen in the ranks. A close friend of mine served 35 years and he was from Cornwall in England
