What is the longest running United States children's TV show?
Correct answer: Sesame Street
Heartland Old Guy
Wow, 50 years and still going strong! The show has been an effective educator and entertainer and its characters are still endearing the hearts of children and adults. Even though some of the puppeteers have passed the characters continue to be their greatest legacy.

SharpGnome527, I'm glad I am young enough to have benefitted from watching Sesame Street. My 35 year old son grew up with it, too. I am fortunate enough to have met Gus Gilchrist at the Pittsburgh Comic Con. He worked closely with Jim Henson to create some of the Muppets and all of the Muppet Babies. Mr. Gilchrist gave me an autographed drawing of the Muppet Babies which is one of my most prized possessions and displayed in a prominent place in my home.

Sesame Street was only on TVs that had more than the basic 3 channels. (ABC, NBC, CBS. ). We couldn't afford the better TVs, so our children missed out on it. After kindergarten, they weren't interested.
