Player Meyer, We have a cabbage dish with our turkeys too, but it is red cabbage that is cooked with sugar and vinegar(among a few other things) for a sweet/sour kinda taste.

Yuck! I can't get past the sour taste. My hubs family, in the Spring and Summer, grow lettuce and they bring in a "mess" of it. They wash it well then heat up some type of grease to pour on the lettuce and have sliced onion in vinegar with They call it "killed lettuce". Talk about gross!!
